Eddie Glenn Messer Sr.

Eddie Glenn Messer Sr., age 59, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2003.

His parents, Louis Baxter and Zelma Dukes Messer, and brothers, Louis B. Messer Jr., Jimmie and Benjamin Messer, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Tara Garden Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Roberts and the Rev. James Greer officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Gary Parker, Gary Messer, Jason Messer, Steven Messer, Tommy Messer, and Mark Messer will serve as active pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Faye Messer of Hampton; daughters, Angie Brooks of Hampton and Michelle Huggins of Locust Grove; sons, Eddie Glenn Messer Jr. of Meansville, and Gary McCune of Hampton; sisters, Elizabeth Kelley of Valley, Ala., Jo Ann James of Lanett, Ala., Betty Jean Crowder of Brunswick; brothers, Henry Messer of Valley, Ala., Wayne Messer of Columbus, Terry Messer of Williamson, and Jerry Messer of Milner; grandchildren, Heather Darnell, Kelly and Brittany McCune, Brandon and Brittany Messer, Tiffany Vaughan, and Courtney Huggins; great-grandchild, Taylor Darnell.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 8 p.m.

William (Billy) Sturdivant

Veteran

William (Billy) Sturdivant, age 59, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, April 12, 2003.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army, and had retired from Delta Airlines. His parents, Clarence Paschal and Margaret Bartley Sturdivant, and brother, Joe Sturdivant, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 15 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand chapel, with Pastor Wayne Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Jones Crossroads.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Kim Sturdivant of Fayetteville and Chris and Kym Sturdivant of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Taylor Morgan Sturdivant of Fayetteville; sisters and brother-in-law, Janes Bales of LaGrange, Nelle Sturdivant of LaGrange, Claire Raiford of Jonesboro, and Emily and Carter Marchant of Columbus; sister-in-law, Margie Sturdivant of LaGrange; several nieces and nephews.
