The Lovejoy boys tennis team made a little history Wednesday afternoon. For the first time since 1994, the Wildcats defeated Fayette County. Lovejoy won the made 3-2 by sweeping the singles matches. Kimleon Turner won his match 10-8, Ryan Hyndman won 11-9 and Chris Cook won 10-8. All three players are enjoying stellar seasons as Turner is 9-1, Hyndman is 8-2 and Chris Cook is 9-1. "It was a very awesome match," Lovejoy head coach Mike Maddox said. "It was a super match to wrap up third place." Lovejoy (8-2) will enter next Wednesday's Region 4-AAAAA tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Lovejoy girls are (5-5) are in sixth place in the region. The Lady Wildcats lost 4-1 to Fayette County Wednesday and picking up Lovejoy's only win was Ashlynn Jackson, who won 10-3.More like this story
