Gaynelle McElroy Caudle

Mrs. Gaynelle McElroy Caudle, age 78, of Forest Park, passed from this life to join her Lord, husband Bill and son Terry on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003.

Born Sept. 19, 1924, she was raised in East Point, Ga., and had lived in Forest Park for the last 55 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 in the Morrow Chapel of Pope Dickson & Son, with the Rev. Scott McHugh, a great nephew, officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Jeff and daughter-in-law Beth Elkins Caudle; daughter-in-law, Cathy Caudle; grandchildren, Sherri and John Hatley, David and Tracie Caudle, Kristi Caudle, Jason and Misty Caudle, Brandy and Michael Woods, and Jeff Caudle Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jamie Hatley, Jeremy Hatley, Shelby Woods, Evan Caudle, Tyler Caudle, Jordan Woods, Aaron Caudle, and Payton Caudle; sister, Pauline Hughett; nieces, Janice Overstreet, Sharon Adcox, LaRue McHugh, and Peggy Donehoo; nephew, Jack Overstreet; several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Gaynelle was a kind and loving true Southern Belle. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Deborah Lynn Denson


Mrs. Deborah Lynn Denson, 48, of Rex, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Jonesboro City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Ira Denson; children, Melisa Denson of Riverdale, Michelle Denson of Dallas, Ga., Ira Denson II, and Lowell Denson, both of Rex; mother, Barbara Morris of Centre, Ala.; stepfather, Gene Crews of Centre, Ala.; brother, C.C. Morris III of Rex; sisters, Cassie Scarbrough of Newnan, Becky Morris of Rex, and April Walker of McDonough; grandchildren, Austin Denson-Abbott and Andrew Denson-Abbott, both of Riverdale, and Megan Denson of Stockbridge.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack Ponder Neal


Jack Ponder Neal, age 79, of Forest Park, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2003.

Mr. Neal was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He participated in the D-Day invasion, where he landed in Normandy. He was decorated with the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He was preceded in death by Juanita Neal and a daughter, Ramona Neal.

A service celebrating the life of Mr. Neal will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at Dickson's Morrow Chapel, with the Rev. Ben C. Langley officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Smyrna, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel W. Neal of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Neal of Griffin, Ga., Ellen and Glen Davis of Forest Park, and Wanda and Billy Carlisle of Forest Park; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Jodi Neal of Lake Lure, N.C., Skin (Ronnie) Neal of Boxankle, Ga., Randy and Andrea Neal of Rex, Keith and Ivon Neal of Boxankle, and Raymond and Soraya Neal of Houston, Texas; brothers, George Neal of Greenville, Ga. and Jim Neal of Rex; sisters, Cora Roberston of Hapeville, Mary Hillhouse of Conley, and Ina Peacock of Forest Park; stepdaughter, Cheryl Longwith of Bakersfield, Calif.; stepsons, David White of California and James White of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
