Clarence Abbott

Retired

Mr. Clarence Abbott, 85, of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003.

Mr. Abbott was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Mr. Abbott retired from Eastern Airlines with 35 years of service. He was a member of the I.A.M. airline union.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville, with the Rev. L. Floyd Carmack officiating.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Alline Abbott; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Curtis Miller of Fayetteville, Debra and Kenneth West of Griffin, and Holly and Michael Wells of Barnesville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Forshee and Dorothy Putnam, both of Tunnel Hill, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the funeral home.

Beatrice Brown Swanson

Mrs. Beatrice Brown Swanson of Fayetteville died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003.

She was born in Cobb County, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton H. Swanson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8 in the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro chapel, with Dr. Dean Haun and Dr. Wallace Simone officiating. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Vivian Swanson of Fayetteville; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Louis Thompson of Jonesboro, Mildred Cornelia and Billy Coggin of Fayetteville, and Vera and Curtis Ergle of McDonough; sister, Ola Mae Miller, and brother-in-law, Horace Kersey; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made to Southwest Christian Hospice or First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.
