Terese Gober hurled a no-hitter and struck out 17 as the Stockbridge Lady Tigers beat Jordan 5-0 Friday in the Jordan Invitational Tournament in Columbus. Getting two hits each were Drue Longo, Megan Throckmorton and Duckie Wilson. Jennifer Corbin, Carrie Fox and Tara Gober added one hit each. Stockbridge also defeated Lee County 5-2 Friday. Tara Gober struck out 10 and allowed only three hits. Terese Gober led the way offensively with two hits. Katie Cash, Longo, Fox and Wilson all collected one hit each. ELHS defeats Union Grove at Diamond Classic The Eagle's Landing Lady Golden Eagles defeated county rival Union Grove 3-1 Friday in the South Gwinnett Diamond Classic. Terri Mesko struck out 10 while walking only two batters. She also went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice and one RBI. Allison Cantrell went 2-for-3 with one run, Tiffany Tanner went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI and Julie Adams went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and one RBI. High scores TD for Union Grove Union Grove freshman Owen High scored on a 65-yard run to provide the only touchdown in Friday's scrimmage between Union Grove and Eagle's Landing. Union Grove racked up 169 total yards and held Eagle's Landing to 43. "We looked better than we thought we would," Union Grove head coach Scott Mason said. "Our offense looked much better than I thought they would." Mason also praised the play of the offensive line, the defense and the quarterbacks. After the main scrimmage, the two teams included a field goal kicking session. Eagle's Landing made two-of-four and Union Grove made one-of-four. Union Grove plays its next scrimmage next Friday at Rockdale County at Reid Stadium. The regular season for Georgia High School Association teams starts Aug. 29. Southern Crescent teams that will be playing Aug. 29 will be McIntosh at Eagle's Landing, Monroe Area at Stockbridge, Forest Park at Lovejoy (12 Oaks Stadium) and Riverdale at North Clayton (Tara Stadium).More like this story
