The high school basketball season is just getting started, but already some teams are beginning to make a statement.
At Jonesboro, both the boys and girls teams are off to fast starts. After Friday's victories against Morrow, both sets of Cardinals are undefeated.
The Jonesboro girls have jumped out to a 7-0 record. The Jonesboro boys have played four fewer games, but have posted a 3-0 record.
Jonesboro won't play again until Friday when it travels to rival Mt. Zion High School, but that doesn't mean there is a lull in the action.
Several teams from Clayton County step onto the floor tonight for key early season contests.
Among those in action tonight are Forest Park traveling to Pebblebrook. The Forest Park girls attempt to get back on track after losing its first region game of the season Saturday at Sandy Creek. The Forest Park led with two minutes remaining, but ended up losing the game 55-50.
In other games tonight, Starr's Mill heads to Lovejoy. On Saturday, the Lovejoy boys used a balanced scoring attack to hold off Riverdale.
Morrow will attempt to get back on track after losing to Jonesboro when it plays host to Eagle's Landing. Mt. Zion plays at Henry County, and Riverdale plays at Fayette County. North Clayton plays at Sandy Creek.
Girls games start at 6 and boys games at 7:30 p.m
