The votes are tallied and the Southern Crescent is well represented in the All-Region 2-AAAAA football poll. Several members from Clayton County teams earned Region 2-AAAAA honors. At wide receiver, Mt. Zion's Tae Rozier was recognized as a first-team all-region member. Mt. Zion's Jashan Powell was named first-team offensive lineman. Mt. Zion's Chris Coggins, and teammate Jamaal Clark were named the team's top linebackers. At the defensive line spot, Jonesboro's Darrell Robertson garnered first-team all-region honors. Several Clayton County defensive backs also took first-team all-region honors, including Mt. Zion's Maurice and Valin Leggett and Jonesboro's Jamal Lewis. The the complete All-Region 2-AAAAA team is listed in the scoreboard section. Across the county line, several members from Henry County schools also earned all-region honors. Despite having losing campaigns, Stockbridge and Henry County garnered first team honors at wide receiver. Stockbridge's Jamaal Teagle, who led the region with 47 catches, tops the list of first-team wide receivers. Henry County's Daryl Simmons also turned in a solid performance from his wide receiver position. With 37 catches and two touchdowns, Simmons earned first-team honors. Also making first team honors was Eagle's Landing defensive back Rashard Smith. Stockbridge's Willie Copeland, who tied Northside kicker Sean Mayo with a 41.0 punting average, earned all-region honors. Coaches split the difference and named Mayo the region's top kicker.More like this story
