They played between the rain drops on Saturday afternoon and in some stifling on Sunday, but the American Amateur Baseball Congress 13-14-year-old state tournament is underway in Morrow-Lake City. The tournament was the beginning of a busy week of action for several tournaments and age brackets throughout the Southern Crescent. The 13-14-year-old event runs through the end of the week. Also on the schedule is the 13-year-old single-age event, which opens today at South Cedar Park in McDonough. South Cedar Park in McDonough will also be the site of the 7-8-year-old state tournament. Forest Park is scheduled to play host to the 11-12-year old state tournament. The state T-ball tournament is also just around the corner. The event comes to Jonesboro starting next Monday. Also scheduled for next week is the 15-16 and 17-18 AABC state tournaments. Later this summer, the 7-8-year-old World Series comes back to McDonough. Coaches or tournament officials are reminded to report their scores to the Daily by calling 770-478-5753 Ext. 280. Information must be reported by 10:45 p.m. the night of the game in order to make it into the next day's edition. Game info should include the score, and statistics regarding key hitters and pitchers.More like this story
