They played between the rain drops on Saturday afternoon and in some stifling on Sunday, but the American Amateur Baseball Congress 13-14-year-old state tournament is underway in Morrow-Lake City.

The tournament was the beginning of a busy week of action for several tournaments and age brackets throughout the Southern Crescent.

The 13-14-year-old event runs through the end of the week.

Also on the schedule is the 13-year-old single-age event, which opens today at South Cedar Park in McDonough.

South Cedar Park in McDonough will also be the site of the 7-8-year-old state tournament. Forest Park is scheduled to play host to the 11-12-year old state tournament.

The state T-ball tournament is also just around the corner. The event comes to Jonesboro starting next Monday.

Also scheduled for next week is the 15-16 and 17-18 AABC state tournaments.

Later this summer, the 7-8-year-old World Series comes back to McDonough.
