Carol Elaine Young

Carol Elaine Young, 49, of McDonough, died July 4, 2003. She was born June 17, 1954, in Great Lakes, Ill., the daughter of Felix Edward and Hazel Akridge Miller.

Survivors include her husband, Tom; mother, Hazel Miller of McDonough; daughter, Kristin Young of San Antonio, Texas; son, Shane Young of Boulder, Colo.; brothers, James Miller of Lawrenceville, Craig Miller of Canton and Keith Miller of Homestead, Fla.

Justin Young

Justin Young, 11, of McDonough, died Saturday, July 5, 2003. He is survived by parents, Amanda and Scott Chambers of McDonough, Bevard and Sheri Young of Grayson, Joey Huey of McDonough; sisters and brothers, Allison Huey and Alisha Huey of McDonough, J.D. Young and Chase Lewis of Grayson, Kevin Chambers and Meagan Chambers of McDonough; grandparents, Susan and Mike Jarrell of Snellville, Deborah and Butch Wilson of Winder, Larry and Debbie Young of Covington, Shirley Stewart of McDonough, Hazel and Ernest Wilson of McCaysville, John Huey of Lilburn; great-grandparents Elder Albert and Betty Wilson of Alabama, Tommy and Louise Allgood of Lawrenceville, Wilma Jarrell of Lithonia; aunt, Marlo Jarrell of Snellville; many great aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Elder Albert Wilson, the Rev. Tony Brock and Elder Joseph Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dixon George

Etheleen W. Dixon George, 75, of Stockbridge, died Saturday, July 5, 2003. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. at The Rock Baptist Church in Rex with Dr. Steve Bingham officiating. Interment will follow at the McDonough City Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday.

Contributions may be made to Lamplighters Ministries, c/o The Rock Baptist Church. She was a member of The Rock Baptist Church for 53 years and retired from PPG Industries where she was an executive secretary for 38 years.

Preceding her in death were husbands, James Hugh Dixon and Hugh B. George; sister, Mary Lou Bennett; brothers, Thomas Bill Wilkerson, Albert H. Wilkerson. Survivors include a son, Rnadall and Sallie Dixon of Stockbridge; sister, Gladys Martin of McDonough; brothers, Idus (Buddy) and Janey Wilkerson of Hampton, Ralph Wilkerson of Hampton; granddaughter, Emily Beth Dixson of Stockbridge; grandson, Randall Todd Dixson of Stockbridge; several nieces and nephews.

Betty Grant Hightower

Betty Grant Hightower, 76, of Stockbridge, died July 5, 2003. Hightower was the widow of the late Raleigh Hightower. She was a member of Stockbridge First United Methodist Church and was the past treasurer of the Earl Brannan Sunday School Class. Hightower was a member of the Stockbridge Order of the Eastern Star No. 544, where she was the First Worthy Matron. She was also a Worthy Matron of the Rex Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Don) Lewis of Stockbridge, Leigh Burchfield of Ellenwood; grandchildren, Allen Greer, Angie Cordle, Clay Lewis, Bryan Burchfield, Kim Burchfield; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 7, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jay Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Stockbridge First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
