From Staff Reports
The 13-14 Morrow-Lake City Astros' undefeated streak came to an end in the AABC State playoffs last weekend at Morrow-Lake City Park. After defeating the Old National Reds 15-3 Friday night to make the Southeast Regionals, the Redan Cardinals defeated the Astros twice last Saturday morning to claim the state title. Astros head coach Robert Jaracz said his team was mentally tired Saturday. "Our Friday game ended so late because of a very bad accident at the park," he said. The Cardinals won the first game 7-1, but the second game was a different story. The Astros led the Cardinals 1-0 in the sixth inning before the roof caved in, losing 7-2. "We made so many mental mistakes during the second game," said Jaracz. Astros players Kelvin Clark and Craig Walters each had three hits in the two games. Clark also homered to center field. Robert Jaracz had two hits and Brad Long had two hits and two RBIs in both games combined. The Astros start regional play Wednesday at MLC Park.More like this story
