The Morrow-Lake City Indians, a team filled with players from Henry and Clayton County, opened the American Amateur Baseball Congress tournament Wednesday afternoon with an impressive victory 8-1 win against the Charlotte Os.
Samuel Rodriquez helped quiet the Charlotte bats with an impressive performance from the mound.
Rodriquez pitched five strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits.
Jemarius Harbor came into the game in relief for the Indians.
Offensively,Isiah Froneberger, Clark Dickinson, and Keith Gains each picked up two hits.
Kiara Weems, Cord Kendrick and Darren Morrow also had a hit for the Indians.
Morrow-Lake City returns to action today at 2:30 p.m. against Gresham Park.
Loser's bracket games at 10:30 and 12:30 are also part of today's tournament schedule.
Other AABC region tournaments are also taking place this week in the Southern Crescent, including the Pee Wee Reese (11-12-year-old tournament.) and the Roberto Clemente (7-8-year-old tournament) at South Cedar Park.
