An epidemic of baseball fever is about to breakout in the Southern Crescent.
That's because starting today, American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) tournaments fire up throughout Clayton and Henry County.
Starting with this week's district tournaments and running for the next several weeks, teams will via for district, state, sub-state, regional and for a lucky few a World Series title in several different age groups.
A few of the sites holding district tournaments include, South Cedar Park, Jonesboro, North Henry, and Forest Park.
Most of these sites will play host to several different age groupOther AABC tournaments headed to the Southern Crescent, include, the 13-14-year-old state tournament at Morrow-Lake City starting in July 5. Also in July, state tournaments will be in held in McDonough for the 7-and-8-year old group, and in Forest Park in the 11-and-12-old group.
Both communities will also hold a region tournament.
The highlight of the AABC season will be when the 7-8-year old World Series returns to McDonough. Action in that series starts July 24.
Coaches, or scorekeepers are reminded to call the Daily at 770 478-5753, Ext. 280 at the conclusion of each game to report their scores and any details of their contest. Deadline for reporting this information is 10:30 p.m.
