Former Stockbridge standout Kyle Davies has been selected to play in the 2003 South Atlantic League All-Star Game. Davies is currently playing for Atlanta's Class A affiliate in Rome and is among league leaders in strikeouts with 83 while walking only 30. In 14 starts this season, Davies has a 6-3 record and a 3.01 ERA. Five other members of the Rome team were selected to the all-star team including Jeff Francoeur, Brad David, Dan Meyer, Brian McCann and Onil Joseph. The all-star game will be June 24 in Lexington, Ky. Davies has been the Braves' organization since 2001 when he was drafted in the fourth round. After successful stints with the Gulf Coast Braves rookie team and the Danville Braves advanced rookie team, Davies was promoted to Rome prior to the 2003 season. In his senior year at Stockbridge, he posted a 9-3 record and helped the Tigers to the quarterfinals of the Class AAAAA state tournament. In 2000, he went 12-0 for the Tigers. He signed with Georgia Tech but decided to go professional after being drafted by the Braves.contestMore like this story
