There was no reggae music playing at Rum Creek Park Tuesday night but the JAAA 13-14 Cardinals were compared to the Jamaican bobsled team after they posted a come-from-behind 10-9 victory over the Central DeKalb Diamondbacks.
"That's what I told them after the game," head coach Larry Panther said. "They never quit and they did their job, just like the Jamaican bobsled team from the movie ?Cool Runnings'. They're a good group of kids."
The Cardinals trailed 5-0 at one point in the contest and came back to tie the game at 7-7 but then fell behind again 9-7 going into the final inning.
With the game tied at 9-9, Andre Dixon collected the game-winning RBI and Blake Burrell scored the winning run to give the Cardinals the chance to advance in the district tournament.
Dixon went 3-for-4 at the plate while Burrell went 1-for-1 with two walks and three runs scored.
Panther also said that catcher Nigel Green had a solid game defensively and at the plate. Panther also said staring pitcher Eric Ogles worked a solid four innings and Sean Jones had a stellar night running the bases.
Jones had a double-steal of home.
