If Friday night's game against Morrow is any indication, Eagle's Landing's pitching is ?Fine.'
Sophomore Adam Fine struck out eight batters on his way to an 8-1, in a complete-game victory over the Mustangs in a Region 2-AAAAA contest at Eagle's Landing.
The Golden Eagles bounced back from a 4-3 region loss Wednesday on the road to Warner Robins.
"Adam has a couple of nice outings in a row for us," Eagle's Landing head coach Blake Lyons said. "We're real confident with our rotation right now."
In addition to solid pitching, the Golden Eagles didn't make any errors and collected 10 hits in the victory.
Eagle's Landing jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with runs by T.J. Taylor, Matt Glass and Luke Murton.
Morrow cut the deficit to 3-1 in the top of the third when Chuck Howard singled to score Josh Shirey.
Eagle's Landing padded its lead to 5-1 in the third and added one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take the victory.
Offensively, Eagle's Landing was led by Taylor (1-for-2, two runs and one RBI), Murton (1-for-2, one run, three RBIs), Hollis Kinnett (2-for-3, one run) and Tommy Griffiths (2-for-3, one run).
Eagle's Landing 5, Jones County 3: The Golden Eagles picked up a non-region win over the Greyhounds.
Marcel Fearon earned the win as he struck out five in 4 1/3 innings. Blake Austin got the save as he struck out the side in the seventh. Relief pitcher Nathan Christenson pitched the sixth inning and also struck out the side.
Offensive leaders were Griffiths (two hits, one RBI), Murton (two RBIs), Michael Sanders and Dustin Clay with an RBI each.
"It's good to win a non-region game against a good opponent," Lyons said. "It gives them some confidence."
