The Jonesboro Lady Cardinals' season came to an end Wednesday night in Savannah. In the first round of the Class AAAAA state soccer tournament, the Lady Cardinals lost 4-3 to St. Vincent's Academy in a game that was determined on penalty kicks. The game went into double overtime and ended in a 3-3 tie. "All the girls played an amazing game," Jonesboro head coach David Priser said. Val Traber scored Jonesboro's first goal with an assist by her sister Amanda. Amanda scored twice on an assist from Michelle Lueke and an unassisted goal. Goalkeeper Laura Ashley Harris, who had 15 saves, was injured late in the game and was replaced for eight minutes by Val Traber who was our player of the match. Priser also credited senior captains Michelle Lueke and Sarah Kolber with leading the Lady Cardinals in the game and throughout the season. Jonesboro finishes the season with a 10-8-1 record.More like this story
