Joe M. Barlow Sr.

Joe M. Barlow Sr. died Sunday, May 11, 2003.

Mr. Barlow was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Lanette Barlow.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 in the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church with the body in state at noon. Dr. Spencer Frye will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara; son, Joe Barlow Jr. of Ellenwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Darrell Morrow of Stockbridge, and Becky and Tim Ard of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Will Cooper, Lindsey Cooper, Emily Morrow, Bryant Ard, Hannah Ard, and Caroline Ard; brothers, Hugh Barlow and Curtis Barlow; sisters, Willard Brown, Pauline Gentry, and Margaret McCormick.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John Edward Dwyer

John Edward Dwyer, age 76, of McDonough, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Henry Medical Center.

Mr. Dwyer was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Montgomery County, N.Y., son of the late Anna R. Burke and Joseph A. Dwyer. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and served his country in the U.S. Army.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 at St. James Catholic Church in McDonough with Father Mike Scerliza officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Catherine Salamack Dwyer; children, Rosanna Lynn and Sam Boone of Stockbridge, David A. Dwyer of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Tim and Gina Dwyer of McDonough; grandchildren, Cayla Delaine Gibson, Amy Laura Boone, Lindsay Shay Turner, Anthony Dwyer, Ashley Dwyer, Laura MacGillivary, and Lindsey MacGillivary; great-grandsons, Chase Gibson and A.J. Turner.

John Calvin Foster

Retired

John Calvin Foster, age 78, of Stockbridge, died Sunday, May 11, 2003.

Mr. Foster was born August 3, 1924, son of the late William Weymon Foster Sr. and Freida Brown Foster. Mr. Foster retired from MARTA after more than 35 years of service.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Atlanta, with the Rev. Hart Pearson officiating.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Mildred; sons, John M. Foster and Arthur Paul Foster of Stockbridge; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Daniel and Denise Foster of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Thomas Harrison Foster and John Daniel Foster.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Wednesday, May 14 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Paul H. Smith Sr.

Electrical contractor

Paul H. Smith Sr., age 65, of McDonough, died Monday, May 12, 2003.

He was self-employed for 38 years as an electrical contractor. He was a Deacon, a Gideon, coached Little League, and in the late '80s served as Chairman of the Henry County Board of Commissioners. He currently owned and operated Brusters Ice Cream on Highway 155 in McDonough. Mr. Smith was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Statham, the Rev. Ray Collins, and the Rev. James Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Betty; children, Sondra Gale Smith, Paul and Tonya Smith Jr., David Dean and Tammy Smith, Joseph Glenn and Heather Smith, Mathew Franklin and Amanda Smith, Joshua Hendrix and Amy Smith, all of Henry County; brothers, Lyman Smith, Gene Smith, and Terry Smith; mother, Louise Smith of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Paul III, Jacob, Toni, Benjamin, Kala, Chelsee, David, Harrison, Patrick, and Challie.

Mrs. Doris J. White, age 78, of Stockbridge, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2003.

Mrs. White was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, May 14 from Horis A. Ward's Fairview Chapel, with Pastor Glen Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Garden of Memories.

Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Staggs of Lilburn, Bonnie Vinson of Stockbridge, and Toni Cox of Stockbridge; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Albright of Morrow and Jean Aiken of Buchannan; several nieces and nephews.
