Valerie H. Eskew

Valerie H. (Hall) Eskew, 53, of West Chester, Ohio, died May 23, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Dan Eskew; children, Laurel and Graham Garrison, laney and Joe Reusch and Jim Eskew; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Hall; and sister, Pat English. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Hall.

Funeral services were Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Liberty Heights Church in West Chester, Ohio. Interment will be at Haisten-Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 3 p.m. Those who wish in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Scholarship Fund, 2825 Lexington Road, Louisville, Ky. 40280.

James Wynn Martin

James Wynn (PeeWee) Martin, 79, of McDonough, died May 24, 2003. Martin was born June 7, 1923, in McDonough, the son of the late Willie Wynn and Thomas Festus Martin. He had retired from General Motors as a fork lift operator. He was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church and the Ancient York Lodge No. 142.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Maffett Martin, in 1990. Survivors are children, Ken and Pat Martin of Jonesboro, Terry and Jane Martin of McDonough, Lanier Martin of McDonough and Tom and Kathy Martin of Stockbridge; sisters, Sarah Frances Bledsoe of Porterdale and Ruth Carter of McDonough; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Martin will be Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Dr. John Brown officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Essie Mae Lewis

Essie Mae Lewis, 91, of Stockbridge, died May 24, 2003. She was a native of Jackson County and is survived by four daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar (Hazel) Walls of Maysville, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny (Barbara) Chapman of Stockbridge, Mr. and Mrs. Earl (Joyce) Thomas of Snellville, Mr. and Mrs. John (Marilyn) Gann of Stockbridge; son, Richard Lewis of Stockbridge; brother, Ross Wood; sisters, Ealer Archer, Montene Hall, Bernice Brewton; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 26, at 2 p.m. from Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel with the Rev. Preston Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Mary Louise Gentry

Mary Louise McCubbins Gentry, 88, died Saturday, May 24, 2003. She is survived by two daughters, Ida Jean Fletcher of Royston, and Patricia Ann Howard of Meansville; brother, William (Bill) McCubbins of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Tara Garden Chapel on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. James Coogler. Family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Camp Memorial Park.
