The Westside-Macon Seminoles didn't need any Halloween trickery Friday night to beat Jonesboro.
They just did what they do best?put the ball in the hands of running backs Travis Evans and Wanza Williams.
That move translated into an easy 52-19 Region 2-AAAAA victory at Tara Stadium.
Evans only played in the first half, but he made his time count, scoring three TDs and rushing for 177. Williams also scored three times, rushing for 171 yards.
Jonesboro put a scare into Westide early in the first quarter as each team traded touchdowns.
After Westside took a 7-0 lead on Jarrod Lowes' end around, Jonesboro struck for a touchdown when quarterback Garrett Williams' connected with Jamal Lewis on an 8-yard pass.
That tied the game at 7-all heading into the second quarter.
From there, Westside answered a wake-up call. The Seminoles exploded for four touchdowns in a little more than seven minutes in the to take a 33-7 lead at the break.
Evans scored his first TD of the game on a 2-yard run with 10:10 remaining in the quarter.
After stopping Jonesboro on its next series, Evans was back in the end zone at the 7:22 mark when he scampered 56 yards.
Nearly three minutes later, the Seminoles called on their special teams to get the ball in the end zone.
Lowe's 75-yard punt return with 4:20 remaining gave the Seminoles a 26-7 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff, Jonesboro fumbled the football back to Westside.
The turnover by the Cardinals' helped set up Evans' final dash to the end zone, and with 3:30 remaining, he was in the end zone after scampering in from three yards out.
With Evans on the bench in the second half, Wanza William stole the show, scoring on runs of 66 and 36 yards in the third quarter to push the lead to 46-7.
By the fourth quarter, newly adopted Georgia High School Association's 30-point mercy rule was in place and the two teams played with a running clock.
It didn't slow down the scoring. Lewis caught his second TD pass of the night from Garrett Williams, this time from 10-yards out with 9:53 remaining.
Wanza Williams added a score on a 5-yard run for Westside and Travon Hardy added a TD for Jonesboro with seconds to go to round out the scoring.
