Family members of former Iraq War prisoner of war Ron Young Jr. will be guests of honor at Thursday's Veterans Day luncheon sponsored by the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Get Away Club at Fort Gillem in Forest Park. The parents and sister of Young will attend the luncheon along with George and Yolanda Rincon of Conyers, parents of Diego Rincon who died in combat in Iraq and was posthumously granted American citizenship. Young's Apache helicopter was shot down in the early days of the recent war in Iraq and he was held prisoner for three weeks before being released. Lt. Gen. Joseph R. Inge, commander of the 1st U.S. Army out of Fort Gillem, will be the speaker for the event. Limited tickets are available for $15 each by calling (678) 610-4021. A driver's license or other photo identification is needed to enter the base.More like this story
