James Edward Wooten James Edward Wooten, age 64, of Stockbridge, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2003. He was the owner of Simmons Plating Works of Atlanta. He was a member of SAMF, NAMF, and the American Electroplaters Society. Simmons Plating Works, under his guidance, received recognition from the NAACP for its support of racial equality during the early days of the Civil Rights movement. Mr. Wooten was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Nov. 7 at the chapel, with Dr. Benny Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his daughters, Suzanne Earp, Julie Summers, and LuAnn Cofield; brothers, Doug Wooten and Howard Wooten; seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 till 4 and 6 till 8 p.m. Pope Dickson & Son Morrow Chapel (770) 961-2700.More like this story
