Clayton St. remains undefeated

The Clayton State Lakers improved their record to 4-0 after Tuesday's 78-73 road victory over Albany State.

Donte Dawson led the Lakers with 13 points and Kevin Young added 10 points.

Clayton State led by double figures for much of the contest but Albany State (1-1) made a late-game surge.

Nick Wallery led the Rams with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Bravon McGruder added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Albany State.

Clayton State gets back into action Dec. 3 at home against Carver.

The Clayton State women's team plays in the West Georgia Classic this week in Carrollton.

The Lady Lakers play Alabama-Huntsville Friday and West Georgia Saturday.

Mt. Zion falls in overtime to Fayette County

The Mt. Zion Bulldogs made a fourth-quarter comeback in Tuesday's game against Fayette County in the Truett's Grill Tip-Off Classic but fell 56-55 in overtime.

Mt. Zion trailed 40-33 at the end of the third quarter but outscored the Tigers 14-7 in the fourth to tie the game at 47-47 at the end of regulation.

Senior point guard Anthony Snell led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Senior wing Allen Smith added 13.

In other scores Tuesday at Mt. Zion, the South Cobb girls beat McIntosh 43-33. In the boys game, South Cobb beat McIntosh 80-29.

Mt. Zion gets back into action this Saturday against Norcross. The Mt. Zion boys will play at 6:30 p.m. and the Mt. Zion girls will close out the event with an 8 p.m. game against Norcross.

Both the Mt. Zion boys and girls are 1-1 in the tournament so far.

The boys beat McIntosh 45-38 on Saturday. The girls beat McIntosh 39-25 Saturday but lost 41-39 to Paideia Monday.

In other basketball action Tuesday evening:

Lake Dow 58, Horizon 13 (girls): Lydia Hamm had 15 points, 17 rebounds, 10 steals and eight assists to help lead Lake Dow to victory. Heidi Reagan scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Mallory Malloy added 14 points.
