Joey Clanton won't be finishing out the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series season with Brewco Motorsports. The Stockbridge race-car driver was let go by Brewco this week but he is hoping to get back into a Busch Series car before the season ends. "Obviously, we're all disappointed," Clanton said. "Our play had always been to run the rest of the season but the circumstances changed. It's frustrating to know we're so close to the Rookie of the Year title but we are working to put something together to run some more races this year." Clanton made his Busch Series debut May 2 in Richmond and has posted one top-five finish this season. He was ranked No. 23 overall in the Busch Series points standings and was second in the rookie standings. "Our year has been up and down," Brewco Motorsports general manager Todd Wilkerson said. "Joey has worked hard and has made a lot of progress this season. As a team we still have some areas that need improvement but more than anything we simply haven't been able to develop the chemistry needed to take our program to the next level."More like this story
