James Vernon Ashmore Mason

James Vernon Ashmore, 90, of Stockbridge, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.

Mr. Ashmore was active in Mountain View Baptist Church. He attended Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. He was also a Mason with the Forest Park Lodge 399.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Tara Garden Chapel, with Dr. Spencer Frye officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Ashmore; daughter, Becky Johnson of Stockbridge; sons, Buddy (Jane) Ashmore of Jonesboro and Eddie (Linda) Ashmore of McDonough; sister, Helen Buie of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Loretta Ashmore of Marietta; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today, Saturday, Oct. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Myrtle Summerour Bogart

Mrs. Myrtle Summerour Bogart, age 93, of Cleveland, Ga. and formerly of McDonough, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Gateway Health Care in Cleveland.

She was born in Auburn, Ga., daughter of the late John Nathan and Bertie Etheridge Summerour. Mrs. Bogart was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Bogart, son, Sgt. Charles R. Bogart, and sister Marguerite Summerour Digby. Mrs. Bogart worked for W.T. Grant Co. and Bell Aircraft during World War II. She was a charter member of First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland and a member of Kelley Presbyterian Church of McDonough. She taught Sunday School and was a devoted homemaker and foster parent for more than 125 children with Henry County Department of Family and Children Services.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Kelley Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeff Hutcheson and the Rev. Sidney Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Genie Bogart of Sautee, Ga.; grandchildren, Jeff and Stephanie Bogart of Helen, Ga., Katherine and Cape Jones of Unadilla, Ga., and Melanie Bogart of Marietta; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Anna Bogart, and Isaac and Marianna Jones; sisters, Doris Patrick of Tennille and Lou Sims of Conyers; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to Kelley Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund or First Presbyterian of Cleveland Building Fund.

Edward H. Crissman Jr.

Mr. Edward H. Crissman Jr., 72, of Perry, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at his residence.

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Crissman has lived in Perry since 1971. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and was the son of the late Edward H. Crissman Sr. and Hollie E. Hatton Crissman. Mr. Crissman was a retired U.S. Navy veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Jonesboro V.F.W., and the Fleet Reserve in Gainesville. In his spare time he enjoyed poetry and working with his hands. Mr. Crissman was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Frances Crissman, in 1996.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at Pisgah Cemetery in Perry.

Survivors include his stepmother, Beulah (Hicks) Browning; sons, Randy Crissman (Linda) of Perry, Donald Crissman (Katherine) of Sebring, Fla., and Bill Crissman (Leslie) of Greenville, Ga.; daughters, Phyllis Crissman of Perry, Diane Crissman Kinsey (Sam) of Perry, and Stephanie Rainey of Douglasville, Ga.; sisters, Elizabeth Crissman of Houston, Texas, and Elinor Ursry of Eulee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at the funeral home.

Hugh "Pop" Taylor

Hugh "Pop" Taylor, age 72, of Forest Park, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003.

He served in the United States Military, and worked as a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken. He was preceded in death by his child, Noel Taylor, and sister, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Debbie Taylor of Rex, Greg Taylor of Texas, J.P. Taylor of Columbus, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Wanda) Taylor, Lee Jr. (Linda) Taylor, and Eugene (Mary Jo) Taylor, all of Tennessee; sisters, Janie Mansfield, Louise Taylor, and Elizabeth Stephens; grandchildren, Jonathan Taylor, Richie Taylor (fiance, Melissa Farmer), Zack Taylor, Brittany Taylor, Carly Taylor, and Kristy Sutton.

Carole Vann

Carole Vann of Forest Park, Georgia died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Southern Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Vann was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Vann.

A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel Monday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include her son, Robert Miller of Jonesboro; sisters, Janice Pearlman and Jeff of Dallas, Ga., and Pam Gilpin of Panama City, Fla.; brothers, Donald Satterfield of Jacksonville, Fla., Jerry Satterfield of Riverdale, and Kenneth Satterfield of Forest Park; grandsons, Austin Wilkerson and Cody Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews.
