The backfield tandem of Erroll Wynn and Darius Woods led the Mundy's Mill Tigers to a 40-13 victory over Luella Friday night at Twelve Oaks Stadium.

Wynn gained 155 yards while Woods gained 95 yards and both scored two touchdowns each to get Mundy's Mill back on the winning track.

"He is my best friend," Woods said. "We like each other and with him, I know I am safe. He blocks for me and I block for him. We just look out for each other."

Wynn's first touchdown came with 10:20 remaining in the first quarter. The scoring play was set up by a 64-yard kickoff return by Wynn. Three plays later, he ran 14 yards for the score. Wynn also scored on a 7-yard run in the third quarter.

Both of Woods' scores came in the first quarter on runs of 7 and 20 yards.

"Erroll and Darius, they're a good tandem," Mundy's Mill head football coach Chad Estes said. "We're glad to have them and they have a bright future here at Mundy's Mill."

Mundy's Mill (2-4) was on a four-game losing streak going into Friday's contest. The Tigers started the season with a win over Peachtree Ridge but faltered as they played tougher competition like Hart County, Darlington and Mays.

"I'm proud of the guys," Estes said. "I am beginning to think our scheduling paid it off. It's preparing us for the second half of the season."

Mundy's Mill's defense stifled Luella's rushing game, allowing – 10 rushing yards. Even though Luella's running game sputtered, the Lions put up good passing numbers.

Luella freshman quarterback Cody Haffley completed 15-of-24 passes, tossing two TDs and three interceptions.

Jeremy Ringfield caught five passes for 90 yards and a touchdown while Johnny Belt caught three passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.

Mundy's Mill passed the ball just one time but it was an effective play. At the 11:47 mark of the second quarter, Marsaydius Royals connected with Stephen Williams for a 64-yard pass.

Mundy's Mill jumped to a 27-0 lead at that point and went into halftime with a 33-7 advantage.

The final score of the game came late in the fourth quarter when Mundy's Mill linebacker Brandon Strickland had an interception return of about 20 yards.

In the second quarter, defensive end Carlos Bentley intercepted a pass and ran it in for a TD but it was called back on a penalty.
