A. Bartow Fisk Jr. (Bart), born to Margaret Buffum Fisk and A. Bartow Fisk Sr. Jan. 2, 1927, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2003.

Mr. Fisk was raised in Englewood, N.J. and attended Choate School and Rensalear Polytechnic Institute. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy on the USS Jeffers.

He loved good food, good fun, dancing, Dixieland and Big Band Sounds, all animals and will be remembered for his sense of humor and kindness to others.

He was an Episcopalian, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, an active member of VFW Post 6330, American Legion Post 258, the American Humane Society, and was a lifelong Republican.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at VFW Post 6330 in Jonesboro.

In addition to his many, many friends, he is survived by his wife, Agnes Fisk of Jonesboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Phil Farr of Dallas, Susan and Ken Enlow of Orlando, bonus children, Barney and Rita Harwell, Dale and Vern Fulmer, and David and Cindy Williams of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Lindsey Enlow, Brad Enlow, and Allison and Zach Darnell of Orlando; bonus grandchildren, Ashley and Jeff Farr, Brent and Anna Farr, and Spencer Farr, all of Dallas; bonus great-grandchildren, Highland, Copeland, Scotland, and Jackson Farr of Dallas. He is also survived by his beloved dog Penny, his granddog Mulligan, and great-granddog, Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local SPCA or Humane Society.

Opal Virginia Hootman

Opal Virginia Hootman, age 90, of Jonesboro died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Carl J. Mowell & Son Chapel with Pastor Miriam Beecher officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her children, Shirley and Mike Kovacicek of Fayetteville, James H. and Nancy Hootman of Jonesboro, Glenda and Steve Stanko of Las Vegas, Nev., Bruce Hootman of Warner Robins, Ga., Ronnie Hootman of Jonesboro, and Joyce and John Bromley of Riverdale.; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; sisters, Melba Masco of Ohio, Laverne Krupp of Ohio, and Twila Scott of Ohio.
