The 2003 Clayton County Chamber of Commerce International Promotions Council (IPC) will be hosting its 12th International Awards Luncheon on Monday at Clayton College & State University, Continuing Education Center. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.
Keynote speaker, Glenn Cornell, commissioner of Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, will be addressing the responsibilities of GDITT. Specifically, Cornell will highlight the significance of and strategy for locating the Secretariat of the Free Trade of the Americas in Atlanta.
Each year at the annual luncheon, sponsored by Atlanta Customs Brokers, the Chamber awards the International Business Employer and the International Transportation Business of the Year awards. New for this year is the International Ambassador of the Year Award. Award winners are determined based on their international market share, domestic employment of international workers and global leadership impact.
Past recipients of the various awards include Sherryl Nelson of Spivey Hall, Delta Air Lines, Georgia Foreign Trade Zone, Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and Atlanta Customs Brokers.
The International Promotions Council exists to help foster international trade and to continue to position Clayton County and the Atlanta Metro area as the new global business destination. The committee has been active in the past in promoting international trade missions abroad, welcoming and hosting international visitors and businesses, promoting cultural activities with Atlanta's Consular Corps and encouraging the expansion of import/export opportunities for local companies.
Seats are still available at $35 per person or a table of 10 for $350 and may be purchased at the chamber office. For more information, call Kimberly Barber, Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, at (404)608-2770.
