Danielle Jordan, 10, made this years TOPS National Gymnastics "B" Team and this has earned her the right to train at Bela karolyi's ranch in Houston, Texas. Jordan is from McDonough and a gymnast at The Ultimate Dream Academy Gymnastics and Cheer here in McDonough. She has had an incredible year. She was a team member for The State of Georgia Level 8 Team, which traveled to New Orleans to compete and the team brought home the Regional 8 Championship. Shge contributed greatly to the team by winning the overall championship on Bars with a 9.675. Since that time, She has been training 25 to 30 hours a week preparing for the up coming season and TOPS competition. USA Gymnastics, the National Governing body of the sport in the United States, conducts an annual talent opportunity program to identify young gymnasts who have the ability to excel in the sport. Through a series of tests, USA Gymnastics identifies approximately 40 gymnast in each age group, 7-11 to make up the TOPs A & B National Team. TOPs Regional testing took place throughout the summer and approximately 2,500 gymnasts participated. From those who participated, 250 gymnasts from around the country were invited to TOPs National Testing. The National Testing was held in Huntville,Texas Oct 3-4 at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center, where approximately 40 gymnasts in three age group (9, 10, and 11) were selected to the TOPs National A & B Team.More like this story
