County starts mosquito spraying

By Billy Corriher

Clayton County has begun spraying for mosquitoes a month early this year, starting with the Northeast and Southwest parts of the county this week.

Though the chemical spray is the least toxic available, residents are advised to avoid being sprayed directly. County workers will spray on Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on clear days.

Charcoal-like briquettes are also being used to treat standing water surfaces to prevent mosquito larvae from emerging.

Only unincorporated areas of the county will be sprayed. Residents who don't want their area sprayed can call Clayton County Central Services at (770) 477-3587. For a full list of the county's spraying schedule, see www.news-daily.com.
