The Clayton County Board of Commissioners will receive $3.4 million in federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in next year's federal budget.

Rep. David Scott, D-Atlanta, said the programs funded with the grants, including the HOME program and the American Dream Downpayment Initiative, have been successful in improving the quality of housing available to local residents.

In addition to the low-income housing programs, the grants will include $75,000 to pay for the design of the new Jonesboro Senior Center, a project that will be built using SPLOST money.
