Richard E. Stallard Sr. Veteran Richard E. Stallard Sr. of Riverdale, born Aug. 16, 1926, retired truck driver and World War II veteran, died at home due to a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Dalton Stallard of Irwin, Tenn.; stepfather, Winford McCullough of Wichechee Gardens, Fla.; mother, Norma O. McCullough of Riverdale, Ga.; wife, Flodean Crain Stallard of Hopkinsville, Ky.; brother, William G. Darby of Atlanta; and son-in-law, Billy W. Clanton of Hampton. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, with Dr. Pete Lumpkins officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. Friday, April 23 at The Ridgetop Cemetery, Crofton, Ky. Survivors include his life-long partner, Lois Lanning and children, Richard E. Stallard Jr. and wife Sue of Alburndale, Fla., Sharron L. Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., Deborah L. Wilkerson and husband Chunky of Chauncey, Ga., Wayne L. Stallard and wife Debbie of Slaughter, Ky., Danny Lanning and wife Louise of Lawrenceville, Ga., Stanley Lanning and wife Carol of Jonesboro, Ga., Kenneth Lanning and wife Beth of Stockbridge, Ga., and Connie Walters and husband Steve of Hampton, Ga.; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; uncles, aunts and cousins. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. (770) 210-2700.More like this story
