The board of directors of the Clayton County Water Authority approved its budget for fiscal year 2004-2005 at a recent meeting. The new budget doesn't include any rate changes for customers and relies on the authority's projected revenue of $69.2 million. Wade Brannan, general manager of the water authority, said the 5 percent increase customers saw in January will cover the authority's budget for this calendar year, but rates will be examined again in December. Brannan said that since the county is conserving water and usage has declined by 12 percent since 1997, the authority has seen a decline in revenue. "We're using water more wisely," he said. "But it does have an impact on our revenues and our planning."More like this story
