Riverdale police have arrested a man in connection with a robbery at an insurance agency in which the agent being robbed shot and killed another robber.
Desmond Dean Johnson, 23, of Riverdale, has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the July 30 robbery at All Risk Insurance on Ga. Highway 85, said Riverdale Police Chief Greg Barney.
"We may be linking him to other robberies in the county," Barney said.
Christopher Evans, 22, of Jonesboro was killed during the robbery by insurance agent 47-year-old Doug Fortaine who was working alone at the office when at least Evans and another man tried to rob the office. Barney said previously that a struggle ensued between the men at which point Fortaine pulled a gun and shot Evans.
Fortaine is not expected to be charged in the case. Barney said the investigation into the robbery is still ongoing.
