W. Agnew Sr.

James "Jim" W. Agnew Sr. of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at his residence.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A church service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13 at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Dr. Dean Haun officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Agnew; sons, J. Wes Agnew Jr. of Jonesboro and Frank Agnew of Jonesboro; sisters, Carolyn Rabun of Atlanta and Frances Wooten of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, Charles Agnew of Macon; grandchildren, J.W. "Tripp" Agnew III, Carter Agnew, and Lacey Agnew; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions are made to the American Cancer Society.
