The Eagle's Landing Golden Eagles waited a week to open their season. For Eagle's Landing head coach Bob Stinchcomb's team, it was worth it. The Golden Eagles took a 15-0 lead at the half, and then held off a rally attempt by Spencer en route to a 22-16 win. Quarterback Marcus Williams scored on touchdown runs of 6 and 16 yards and also connected with Johnny Thompson on a 38-yard TD pass en route to the win. Spencer cut the margin to 15-14 with two TD runs in the second half. An intentional safety from Eagle's Landing's Alex Paquette gave Spencer its last two points of the game. n Jonesboro 21, Fayette County 6: The Jonesboro Cardinals are still unbeaten (1-0-1). After tying Mundy's Mill in the season opener last week, Jonesboro went on the road Friday night and beat Fayette County 21-6. Patrick Saxby kicked field goals of 35 and 38 yards and Brandon Lucas and Kenny Hester scored touchdowns to pace the win. Jerome Davis added an 2-point conversion. Fayette County is coached by former Jonesboro and Riverdale head coach Tommy Webb. n Lowndes 55, Luella 20: Luella had 264 total yards, 203 of which were through the air. Johnny Belt had a 99-yard interception return for the Lions. n Bremen 48, Eagle's Landing Christian 6: At Bremen, Alec Huber caught a 6-yard touchdown pass on the Chargers first possession to take a 6-0 lead, but it was all Blue Devils from there.More like this story
