Four arrested in McDonough meth bust

Four people, all from outside of Henry County, were arrested in McDonough on charges of methamphetamine possession.

William Karl Cook, 46, of Milledgeville, Irene and Thomas Young, 48 and 30 respectively, of Macon, and William James Murphy, 47, of Lawrenceville, were all arrested Wednesday at a gas station on Ga. Highway 20/81 near Interstate 75, said Flint Circuit Drug Task Force Agent Chad Rosborough.

Rosborough said agents received a tip that the group had met regularly at the BP Station near Interstate 75 to apparently buy or sell drugs. "We got a complaint that they had been showing up there on a regular basis," he said.

Cook and the Youngs, mother and son, were in a vehicle when McDonough Police approached, Rosborough said. Murphy was in the gas station and arrested by officers when he came out.

Rosborough said about a half ounce of methamphetamine was seized in separate containers. All were charged with possession of methamphetamine. Cook, Murphy and Thomas Young were charged with possession with intent to distribute.

Asked how the four came to meet in Henry County, Rosborough said, "The best we can figure out, it was a half-way point."
