New York City police arrested a Hispanic man this week in connection with the Nov. 27 stabbing death of an Ellenwood man, according to a Henry County Bureau of Police Services press release. New York police captured David Heredia Velazquez Wednesday. He was wanted for the shooting death of Mario Cruz, who was found dead at his home on Poole Circle. Police said he was possibly targeted because of his relationship with Velazquez's estranged wife. Henry County police Det. Mike Reid and Sgt. James Peaden were in New York to interview witnesses and gather evidence. Earlier this week, police arrested 32-year-old Nelson Gomez who they allege drove Velazquez to New York after the slaying. Gomez was granted a $20,000 bond Wednesday but remained in jail Friday afternoon.More like this story
