Stockbridge 67, Eagle's Landing 46 (boys): After falling behind 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Stockbridge Tigers answered head coach Mark Andrews' wake-up call in the second quarter, and the Tigers led the rest of the way en route to a 67-46 victory.
Donte Stodghill's 3-point shot during the second quarter pushed the Tigers out to an 18-17 lead and they never trailed again. By the end of the second quarter they led 26-22.
Eagle's Landing had upset on its mind early in the game as it took control of the contest in the first quarter. A 3-point shot by Adam Fine was part of a 10-run as the Golden Eagles doubled the score on Stockbridge at 14-7.
Stockbridge put Eagle's Landing away in the third quarter as senior Markel Humphrey scored 15 of his game-high 23 points right after the break. Humphrey's third-quarter fireworks including two 3-point shots and an impressive slam dunk.
By the end of the third quarter, Stockbridge led 50-34.
Joining Humphrey in double figures for Stockbridge was freshman Demitrius Holmes and junior Donte Stodghill with 11 each. James Wheeler led Eagle's Landing with 14. Luke Murton had 13
Stockbridge 61, Eagle's Landing 44 (girls): The Stockbridge Lady Tigers led at the end of the first three quarters and when it counted--at the end of the game as they beat county rival Eagle's Landing 61-44.
Both teams spent plenty of time at the free throw line as the two teams combined to shoot 57 free throws.
Stockbridge led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter and 18-12 at the break.
Eagle's Landing only attempted one free throw in the first half, but the calls starting going their way in the second half. Hayley Ferrell hit all four of her free throw attempts and teammate Kris Jones went 4-o-f-5 from the line as the Golden Eagles attempted to stay in the game.
However, the Lady Tigers pushed their lead to double digits at 37-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
Tonisha Wimbush gave the Lady Tigers a 39-25 lead to open the final quarter. Wimbush, who scored 12 points for Stockbridge, scored 7 points in the fourth quarter.
Sade Odutola, who also scored 10 points, came up with some big free throws in the final period to help put some distance between the two teams.
Ferrell, who fouled out in the fourth quarter, finished with a game-high 17 before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
