Forest Park's Chris Tucker won the South Metro Invitational last weekend and will face a new challenge this week. Tucker and his teammates travel to Starr's Mill this weekend for the Panther Invitational. Last week, Tucker won the 189-pound division at the South Metro and teammate Vannara Pom placed sixth at 171. The Panther Invitational will feature several ranked teams including Union Grove (No. 9, Class AAAAA), Parkview (No. 3, Class AAAAA), Starr's Mill (No. 4 in Class AAAAA), Lithia Springs (No. 5 in Class AAAA), Jones County (No. 7 in Class AAAA), LaGrange (No. 4 in Class AAA), Dublin (No. 2 in Class AA) and Jefferson (No. 1 in Class A). "It will be a tough tournament," Forest Park head coach Jim Elliott said. "We want to wrestle tough competition so we can hopefully prepare for state later in the season." Forest Park finished 20th in the overall team standings last week at the South Metro. Local teams to take part in Tiger Classic: Several local teams will wrestle in the Tiger Classic this weekend at Stockbridge High School. Jonesboro, Morrow, Mt. Zion and Riverdale are slated to compete in the tournament that begins this afternoon. Last week, Jonesboro placed four in the South Metro including David Ramirez (sixth, 135), Daniel Cazenave (third, 160), Jamie Gose (fourth, 171) and Rocky Lee (sixth, 275). The Tiger Classic features two state-ranked teams, Henry County (No. 2 in Class AAAA) and Westminster (No. 6 in Class AAA). Henry County is the defending champion.More like this story
