Betty Louise Davis Powell

Mrs. Betty Louise Davis Powell of Forest Park died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.

Mrs. Powell was a member of First Baptist Forest Park and V.I.P. Club. Mrs. Powell retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 24 years of service. She served in Korea during the Korean War. Mrs. Powell taught the special needs children for 18 years at First Baptist Church of Forest Park. Louise was the last living relative on the Davis side.

Funeral services took place at noon Friday, Feb. 20 at First Baptist Forest Park, with the Rev. Chad Ellis and the Rev. John Garland officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 19 years, Jack Powell; cousins, Dorothy of Ohio, and Helen Garland of Locust Grove; several nieces and nephews.

Jesse Lee Singley

Mr. Jesse Lee Singley Sr., 72, of Griffin, passed away Feb. 23, 2004.

Mr. Singley retired from Clayton County Transportation & Development with more than 20 years of service. Mr. Singley is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Edward Singley.

Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 in the Chapel of Pope Dickson and Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Ruby E. Singley; daughters and son-in-law, Patience Williams of Griffin Ga., Ila and Billy Livingston of Stockbridge, and Iris Brewer of Griffin; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse L. and Beverly Singley Jr. of Stockbridge, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one aunt and one niece.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
