James G. Chandler (Chain Hoss)
James G. Chandler (Chain Hoss), 83, of Riverdale, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at a local hospital.
Mr. Chandler retired from the Ford Motor Company Hapeville Assembly Plant with 31 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Union Local 882, and was a member of the Masons at the Forest Park Lodge. Mr. Chandler is preceded by his wife, Mrs. Mary Anne Barnett Chandler.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27 in the chapel of Pope Dickson and Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn Young of Tifton and Margaret and Bernie Van Wagner of Palmetto; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Chandler of Hampton and Doug and Peggy Chandler of McDonough; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister; two brothers; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Dewey Edward Hendrix Sr.
Dewey Edward Hendrix Sr., 84, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, of heart failure.
Mr. Hendrix started working as an Operator with the Georgia Power Trolleys in 1939. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and worked as a barber in Red Oak, Ga. for 25 years. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Hampton. Mr. Hendrix was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Opaul Farmer Hendrix and son, Dewey Edward Hendrix Jr.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Carl J. Mowell & Son Chapel in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Oliver Cameron and the Rev. Allen Wakeman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his son, Howard Kimsey Hendrix of Hampton; grandchildren, Jeffery Allen Hendrix (Melanie) of Tampa, Fla., Gregory Scott Hendrix of Tampa, Christina Hendrix Smith (Timothy) of Tyrone, Ga., Daniel Kimsey Hendrix (Kristi) of McDonough and Timothy Edward Hendrix of Tampa; great-grandchildren, Stephen Bobby Smith, Joshua Curtis Hendrix, Julia Kimberly Smith, Samantha Kristine Hendrix, Kimberleigh Hope Hendrix, Cameron Lake Hendrix and Griffin Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix is survived by one of his eight siblings, Ruth H. Daniel of Red Oak, Ga.
