Virgil Lee Bell Jr.


Mr. Virgil Lee Bell Jr. of Riverdale passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003.

Mr. Bell retired from General Motors and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1965. Mr. Bell was a member of the Morrow Masonic Lodge No. 734; past President South Side Scottish Rite Association; Knight Commander Court of Honor (KCCH) 1977; Thirty-third Degree Inspector General Honorary 1995; High Priest Mount Zion Chapter No. 16, Royal Arch Masons; Illustrious Master Jason Burr Council No. 13, Royal and Select Masters; Commander Atlanta Commandery No. 9, Knights Templar; Member Luther G. Palmer York Rite College, The Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Allied Masonic Degrees and Yaarab Shrine; Stage Director of Scottish Rite and was Tara District Unit Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Kirk Bell; daughter, Kimberly Ann Bell of Atlanta; son, Brian Dwayne Bell of Riverdale; sisters, Shirley Fifield of McDonough, Dotty Jean Bell of LaGrange, Wanda Hammock of Barnesville, Edith Plumblee of Memphis, Tenn., and Ruby Reddick of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brothers, Carlos Bell of Thomaston and Delancy Bell of Atlanta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
