A woman was killed when she clipped a stopped car, causing her vehicle to spin into traffic on Interstate 75 Friday morning, the Georgia State Patrol said. A man traveling north on I-75 near where Interstate 275 merges stopped to help a woman whose car was broken down in the emergency lane. Glenda Matthews Batten, 57, of Jonesboro, was traveling north on I-75 in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. She hit the man's parked car, then got hit by a Georgia Building Authority van at 6:49 a.m. Friday, state patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said. Batten was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. All six passengers and the driver in the van were transported to Southern Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries, Wright said. No citations were issued, he said, but the investigation was ongoing Friday.More like this story
