Adolphus D. (A.D.) Adams Jr. Retired Adolphus D. (A.D.) Adams Jr., 72, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004. He was retired from Southern Bell. Funeral services will take place at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 22 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Mays and the Rev. Greg Burgner officiating. Interment services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tracey Smith officiating. Survivors include his wife, Tommie Anne Phillips Adams; children, Angela McClure, Anthony Adams, Gene Gilbert, Thomas Gilbert, Wayne Gilbert, John Gilbert, David Mays, John Mays and Shirley Mays of Fairburn; brother, Robert J. Adams; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
