Standing at 4-foot-1, she took the minor league baseball diamond and brought the crowd to its feet with her voice.
Ashley Lewis, a 10-year-old from Jonesboro, wants to be a singer when she grows up and is already getting her voice out.
"When I grow up I want to be a famous singer," she said.
Lewis performed the National Anthem at the Savannah Sand Gnats minor league baseball game Saturday, a proud moment for her sports fanatic father.
"I'm looking forward to getting her to the Falcons," Jim Lewis said. "That's the important thing to me."
With a shelf in the family's living room lined with hats of various sports teams, Jim Lewis said his dream is for her to perform at an Atlanta Falcons game.
"To me it's very exhilarating," he said. "Every time I see her out there it makes me so happy."
Although she wasn't chosen, Ashley Lewis also auditioned to sing the National Anthem at an Atlanta Braves baseball game. She is also trying out for the opportunity to sing at a Georgia Force arena football game.
She began singing at Bethel Baptist Church on Flint River Road in Jonesboro and sings solos with the children's choir as well as performing with her mother, Tina Lewis, and with her whole family including her 13-year-old sister Kristy.
"It's God-given talent is the only way to put it," Tina Lewis said of her daughter, who has had no formal training and has been singing since the age of 4. "God gave her the voice and the choir director (Jennifer Farr) helps."
Not only does she sing, she has also written a song with the help of her mother.
"She started writing, then I helped her with it," Tina Lewis said.
Ashley Lewis also added dancing to her repertoire.
Dancing and singing Brittany Spears' "Lucky," Ashley Lewis won third place at the Harper Elementary School talent show in May.
Her favorite songs are "Stronger" by Spears and the Star-Spangled Banner, along with a host of Christian songs.
