An Ellenwood teen remains hospitalized after being accidentally shot in the jaw by a friend. Jason Reed, 17, was in critical condition and being treated in an intensive care unit at Atlanta Medical Center as of Friday, hospital spokeswoman Carol Britton said. Reed was standing in the driveway of the house where he lives on Oak Circle around 3:55 p.m. Friday when his friend, 20-year-old Antwana Smith, accidentally fired a round from a gun in his possession, Clayton County police Capt. Jeff Turner said previously. Other people were with the two at the time and they told police that the shooting was an accident. After the shooting Smith left the scene and threw the gun, a 9 mm into some bushes where it was later recovered. Smith has been charged with reckless conduct, tampering with evidence and obstruction of a police officer, all misdemeanors. Turner said Smith did not tell them where he got the gun.More like this story
