Costner Jr.

William Defay "Bill" Costner Jr., 55, of Stockbridge, passed away on July 4, 2004.

He is survived by fiance Janet Drosky of Stockbridge and children Seth Costner of Burlington, N.C., Scott Costner of Woodstock, Sara Costner Swann of Hull, Ga., and Rodney Fiore of Stockbridge, William Fiore of Stockbridge and godson Zachary Thomas Crain of Asheville, N.C. He is also survived by numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, with the Rev. Ron Everett officiating. The family received friends on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Augustus Martin

Augustus Lamar "Moty" Martin, 82, of McDonough, died July 17, 2004, at Henry Medical Center.

Martin was born in Henry County on Jan. 5, 1922, the son of the late Florrie Bell Wynn and Hugh Martin. He was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, retired from Ford Motor Co., served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and received European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three bronze stars, WWII Victory Medal and American Service Medal.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Gerald Martin and John Thomas Martin; sister Marion Rowan. Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Nannette Martin of McDonough; grandchildren, Daniel and Tammy Martin of Macon, Dustin Martin of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Casey, Coleman and Carley Martin of Macon; sisters, Juanita Buice and Nell Busbin of McDonough and Doris Stubbs of Covington; nephew Donald Busbin of McDonough; and niece, Phyllis Seago of Suwanee.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 19, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Outlaw officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to Mt. Bethel UMC Building Fund, 992 Mt. Bethel Road, McDonough, Ga. 30252.

Opal Dobbs

Opal Lee Dobbs, 89, of McDonough, died July 17, 2004.

She was born June 15, 1915, in Fayetteville, the daughter of the late Georgia Della and Rivus Buran Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Dobbs, in 1978. She was a member of McDonough Baptist Tabernacle and had retired from Nabisco.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Strickland of McDonough; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at 11 a.m. at McDonough Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. James West officiating. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 to 9 p.m.

Miriam Wilson

Funeral services for Miriam Edwards Wilson, 71, of Wedowee, formerly of Atlanta, were held Sunday, July 18, 2004, from Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Norred and Mr. Randy Smith officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining church cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday and Sunday.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church of Stockbridge or Peachtree City Christian Church.

Wilson died Friday, July 16, 2004, at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Guy Wilson of Wedowee; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ty Dillard of Sharpsburg, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Bonnie Wilson of McDonough; four sisters, Audrey (Henry) Beaucham of Pasadena, Texas, Eria Wilkins of Theodore, Ala., Florene Gaston of Conyers and Erlene (Richard) Miller of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mathew Wilson of Atlanta, Andrew Wilson and Meredith Wilson of McDonough, and Nathan and Philip Dillard of Sharpsburg.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Holloway, Matt Wilson, Drew Wilson, Nathan Dillard, Philip Dillard and Ty Dillard.

Wilson was a native of Randolph County, born Jan. 17, 1933, the daughter of Hoyt and Myrtle Beam Edwards. She was retired as a clerk with AAFES. She was a member of Liberty Grove Congregational Church and the Hobson Homemakers Club.

Nancy McEver

Nancy Elizabeth McEver, 73, of Rex Road, Lake City, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at the Athena Rehabilitation Center in Lake City. McEver was born April 3, 1931, in Greensboro, Ga., daughter of the late Brice and Elna McEver.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel. Interment followed in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry County with Ralph Wilson officiating.

McEver is survived by two sons, Larry Blount of Oregon, Bobby Blount of Stockbridge; two daughters, Marie Shelton of Griffin and Faye Blount of Stockbridge; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lena Mae Jett, Mildred Phillips, Jean Hall and Sara Anne Smith.

Friends visited the family on Saturday evening.
