Charlie Wayne Thompson Jr., 72, of Leighton, Ala., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004. Mr. Thompson was a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served the Lord as a Baptist minister for more than 50 years. For the past 14 years he has been Pastor of Mt. Springs Baptist Church. Other pastorates include Ash Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., Forest Hills Baptist, Florence, and Cane Creek Presbyterian. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, June 5 at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel, Tuscumbia, with Brother Jim Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Leighton. Pallbearers will be Larry Collum, Lance Collum, Anthony Joiner, Anthony Letson, Curt Joiner, and Ivan Denton. Honorary pallbearers are the ministers of the Colbert-Lauderdale Baptist Association, Ezell Collum, Billy Davis, and Dr. Andre Taylor. Survivors include his wife, Sandra F. Thompson; son, Joseph Paul Thompson of Gulf Port; daughter, Jenifer Baldwin of Jackson, Ala.; stepson, Michael Lynn and wife Ruby Robbins of Leighton, Ala.; grandchildren, Holly Robbins, Michael Robbins, Jenna Baldwin and Josh Thompson.
