A grocery store security guard shot a College Park teen after confronting him in a parking lot in Riverdale. At about 7:22 p.m. Wednesday Kathryn Smith, 30, was arriving at her job at Wayfield Foods grocery store on Riverdale Road near Riverdale when she saw a car in a parking lot across the street that she believed had been stolen from a friend, Clayton County Police Department Capt. Jeff Turner said. Smith confronted the 16-year-old driver and at one point he began driving away. Smith drew her .38-caliber handgun and shot the teen in the head. She told police later that he was trying to run over her. The teen, whose name was not released pending notification of his relatives, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was on life support Wednesday night. No charges had yet been filed against Smith, but the investigation was continuing, Turner said.More like this story
