Jim Friel

Jim Friel of Forest Park passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2004.

Mr. Friel served during World War II in the Royal Navy as a radio officer. He was also a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.

A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, June 25 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, with Father Vincent Gluc as celebrant.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Friel; daughter, Janet Wilson of Savannah; sons, Brian Friel of Forest Park, Jamie G. Friel of Mansfield, Ohio, Daniel Friel of Honolulu, Hawaii and Stephen Friel of Rex; brother, Daniel Friel, and sister, Alice Brunjes, both of Glasgow, Scotland.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24 at the funeral home.

Mr. Edward David (Ed) Hanes of Jonesboro died Tuesday, June 22, 2004.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Minister Paul Leslie officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Hanes; daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Billy Crawley of Riverdale, Faye and Leonard Wood of Rex, and Marie Scott of Union City; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward and Jackie Hanes Jr. of McDonough and Robert Paul Hanes of Union City; sisters, Anne Ruth and Edward Brock of Austell, Louise and Cecil Cole of Ellijay, and Hilda and Harold Ruthford of Austell; brother, James and Betty Hanes of Douglasville; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Libia Richardson, 52, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24 in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, with Father Freddy Gorena O.F.M. Conv. and the Rev. Scottie Houchins officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Richardson; children, Gloria Richardson and Giga Richardson, both of Jonesboro, Ryan Richardson of Cumming, and Brigetta Hardy of Kennesaw; mother, Belen Escobar of Miami; brothers, Jaime Escobar of Miami and Juan Escobar of Orlando; sisters, Isabelle Echavarria of Rio Nagro, Columbia, Lucia Escobar-Grande of Miami, Cecilia Escobar-Silvius of Douglasville, and Alicia Obbink of Los Angeles; four grandchildren.

Franklin D. Thompson Sr., 66, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, June 21, 2004.
